If you live in Utah County Lee Kay and the previous mentioned Davis ranges aren't exactly close and local, the west side of the lake is the better option. On the other hand if you live in Ogden, the west side of Utah lake isn't as great a suggestion.dewittdj wrote:Compared with the money and time spent driving to the west desert, the Wahsatch Range in Davis County is well worth the $45.00 annual cost. Plus it is fairly close to my home.

Not to mention you can do exactly what you want to do with draw from holster drills with multiple targets and no fuss chronographing etc. I prefer my private range, when in a hurry though yes I am known to visit a public range.
I know that Wahsatch doesn't have an issue with chrono's, peeps set them up all the time, almost always one or two there when I'm shooting. I've also set up more than one target stand when it wasn't busy...they're flexible. Not sure about practicing drawing, etc...never done it there, nor seen anyone else do it. But all in all, I like the controlled environment of a range, assuming multiple shooters. If you're all by yourself, or with a buddy or two that you can trust, then I think a private range would be great.
Anyway, for this month I'm mostly shooting indoors at Impact, since they give you the free range pass with a gun purchase..

West side of utah lake is okay but I am kind of sick of that location and over crowding, I now prefer submarine rock in skull valley just the next valley past grantsville. Literally its 30 mins from SLC and baren. Utah lake is 50 mins from SLC.
