Were do you work?

This is a place you can feel free to talk about just about any thing you want. As long as it is family-rated of course.

I work for Salt Lake Community College doing enrollment services. OK, I'm employed there, I only actually work a couple hours a week. The rest of the time I read online forums and study HAM radio and CERT stuff. But hey, it's government work - what did you expect?

Goods times, QSI. Still the only employer I've worked for that had an "open gun policy," where people were encouraged to bring in their firearms to show to other employees...

Ha ha nice. Jim Pumphrey is actually my boss!

Mechanical Engineer for FreeLinc http://www.Freelinc.com

FreeLinc develops wireless accessories for police radios. We get rid of that nasty drunk handle "cord" that runs from the officers radio to their speaker mic.

Our real $ maker is the technology of NFMI (Near Field Magnetic Induction). We have dozens of patents on its capabilities.

I'm a software programmer in Ogden. I also do Linux and Unix system administration with a tiny side helping of network admin. I'm intentionally leaving my company's name out because my political views are my own and I don't want something to come down the line 20 years from now and have it bite me in the butt with a future employer. :)

I work at a big IT storage vendor in Draper. Great company to work for, except that they have a "no weapons" policy. :/

DriverTech, eh? I used to be in IT for QSI about 7ish years ago (before the buy-out), and remember when DriverTech was 3-4 people sharing office space with QSI...

Currently I'm at the University of Utah, as a SysAdmin for one of the SoC research institutes. Love being able to carry to work at a university, even if not OC... :D

I'm curious about the reference to QSI, only because I worked for (a) QSI in Logan twenty some-odd years ago... Back when they had something like a dozen employees.

I guess the simplest question would be, does the name Jim Elwell ring a bell?

Talk about a flashback! Though I don't intensely follow all details about former employers, I missed hearing about "the buy-out". I knew Jim Elwell some 40+ years ago.

By chance, do those wireless accessories for police radios work on HAM radios, specifically the HTs?

It is interesting to see people here who work at different locations. I work for ARUP.

Now that is interesting, ARUP is on the short list of places I would really like to work once I graduate.
