New addition to the family

Postby Snurd on Fri 06 Jan 2012 10:03 am

New addition to the family of Glocks that is.
I had a hard decision to make. I really wanted a G36, and have also wanted a G34 for a while as well. The 36 mainly for carrying since it is light and packs a punch, and the 34 for possible UDPL shoots. I haven't done those before, but they look really fun.

I have been browsing KSL for a while and there was one of each listed for a great price. After much consideration I went with this:

Also went to Doug's to shoot it yesterday. It shoots great. But I could have used some help. For some reason I was Mr. Flinches-a-bunch. That's usually not the case. Maybe I was too excited. I shot mainly at 15 to 20 feet. I would have tried farther but the lane I was in only went out to 20 feet due to an issue. This was my best grouping. Others weren't too bad, but the flinch-itis was definitely there. Ten shots in the pic. Good thing I'm taking moyler's dry-fire class. :D

Beautiful addition there! And good looking groups. I would take the 34 over a 26 any day. The 19 is too easy to carry for me - no need to go smaller.

Dry fire will definitely help cure the flinchies, and other bad habits. There are a couple live-fire drills that are good for Mr. Flichy too.

Bring the 34 to the dry- fire workshop. I promise not to drool on it.

Also, it conceals quite well. Even with a regular t-shirt it disappears while using a Safariland ALS.

Err... it was a 36 rather than a 26. The GLOCK 36 is a single-stack that carries 6+1 rounds of .45 ACP.

You are correct, Dave. I read too fast. I also assumed mqondo knew better. The 36 is like the red-headed step child of the Glock family.

So an even better choice in my book. I'd put two thumbs up, but this guy only has one:

Now I am jealous! Can I watch it for you from time to time? I’m sure mine will play well with a new glock!

This is something I have been wondering, if my G35 will fit in an ALS designed for a shorter glock. Is your ALS a shorter one and the 34 sticks out a little?

It sticks out a little bit, but not as far as it does in the Serpa. Maybe 3/4 of an inch.
I'll take some pics in a bit and post the 34 in both holsters.

Here is the 34 in both the Serpa and ALS.

The 34 fits in the ALS just like the 19 and 17. For some reason it is much tighter in the Serpa.

Took the 34 to the range again yesterday with Schmurnemurch. Most of the flincharooskies were gone. Did some one and two handed shooting. A good time was had. Always good to get some lead down range.
If anyone is thinking about buying a G34, I would highly recommend it. :dancing:
