Totally missed this thread :disgusted: sorry I missed your bbq.
I would love to find a nice group to ride/ play with!
Hubby and I have started doing some charity runs this year (Shriners and BACA) I am loving it. Planning on doing the "Fallen Officers" ride on the 21st of August (starts at Lindon "Harley") But open other than that.

We have a ride scheduled for this Saturday. We will meet at the Tesoro Gas Station at 2700N and Hwy 89 in North Ogden at 9 am and again at the Sinclair Station in Mt. Green at 10 am. We will then head up towards Morgan for lunch and back home via East Canyon, probably. Only the ride leader knows for sure.

You can read more about us at http://www.goldenspikebikers.com.

Hope to see some of you riders there.

I always ride with the PGR while carrying. They usually say, "No firearms showing." but I've never heard anyone say I can't carry.

I am a member of the Americas Guardians MC. Several of us will also be riding in the fallen officers ride on Aug 21. Sounds like others on this forum will also be there, so if you see us come over and say hi. I will try to do the same. No rules against bare arms in our MC. :D

The reason PGR doesn't allow it (more than likely) is a good one I think. They are not there for political debate or to make a point. Their self stated purpose is to stand for those that stood for them. They're to protect the fallen during their final moments before burial so they can rest in peace. By removing visible firearms from it, it removes any perceived hostility (not from us, from the WBC-like people). It's just not an appropriate time for protest (even if you're not protesting, others might see it as such).

They're not anti-gun, they're pro-respect.

I know several PGR members are also members of Americas Guardians. All I have met are great people, willing to stand for others, and need only a small excuse to go for a ride. I am fairly new to motorcycle clubs, but I do know if invited to ride with another club you follow all their rules out of respect. This is the first I have heard of their rules of oc, but almost all of the PGR members I know always seem to have a small bump under their ride gear at about 3-4 o'clock.

I think it may have had to do with the fact that (at least for the most recent one I was looking into) your on a base. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think civi's can take firearms on base.

OH, gotcha! You're not breaking any laws by taking it onto base, only if you take them into a posted building. Now, they can kick your fanny off of base and scare the you-know-what out of you, but so far as the law goes, it's only illegal to take them into the buildings if properly posted. I suspect you're spot on with the reason. No more mood dampener than having one of your members getting escorted off base mid-funeral. :(

It may be a stretch, but a federal judge (strong anti-gun type) hearing a case of someone CC onto a base [a.k.a. federal facility, federal installation, federal compound, federal encampment, federal jurisdiction, federal {fill in the blank}, etc.] might draw the line of reasoning that the entire area enclosed by the fence, signs posted at the gates [NO Privately Owned Firearms Allowed without permission of the Base Commander], countless hundreds, if not thousands, of government employees roaming freely about give them the authority to prosecute for violation of federal law.

Quid pro quo - You give up your 2A right for access to the federal facility, or so the "reasoning" goes.

Yeah, I suppose that's always possible, but there's no law that's being broken. It would more than likely get turned over on appeal. I guess this is the definition of "You can beat the rap but not the ride."

I know this thread is a little old, but I thought I would resurrect it. Are there any groups currently riding? I've been looking for a fun group to ride with for the last year. I love doing long rides, but they get boring by myself...
Someday I'll put something witty here...
