Lazyman Ironman

Postby enigmamachine on Mon 06 Aug 2012 2:27 pm

Hey all...

Hill AFB is diong a "Lazyman Ironman" competition this month (August) - do the IronMan distances at your own pace during the course of the month.

I started on Saturday, and set a goal to be done on the 17th. I remember a few other fitness-oriented threads, but thought I'd start another one.
Distances:
Swim - 2.4 miles (~77.5 laps at the HAFB pool)
Bike - 112 miles
Run - 26.2 miles

Anyone else looking for a goal to set?

I did two sprint triathlons last year, and will be doing my third in September, so this is a good kick-starter for me (as I haven't started training yet).
If any of you are interested, I may be able to get you into the Hill AFB triathlon in September (it was only $10 last year, as compared to the $60-$80 "normal" triathlon prices)

Aw man. This would be awesome, but that's part of the busiest time of year for me. Good luck with yours though.

So far I have done these distances:

Swim: 13 laps (out of 77.5)
Bike: 21 miles (out of 112)
Run: 5 miles (out of 26.2)

I plan on a 15 mile bike ride tonight. Too bad it's getting dark earlier, otherwise I'd extend it to 25-30...

I can feel a heart attack coming on just from reading this thread.

I just did the Couch Potato variation... did all three... in the car.

Okay, no. I did NOT swim.... in the car.

****UPDATE****

I FINISHED!

I have tried to be somewhat consistent in my workouts, but I had a big push to finish:

Last night I biked 31 miles.
This morning I ran 5.5 miles.
During lunch, I swam 18 laps (1 lap extra)!

Started: August 4th
Completed: August 16th
(took 2 days completely off)

Now, maybe I'll go back to my "fun" bike rides that aren't trying to get in as much distance in as little time as possible.
