OC at Biomat

Postby Dustin WJ on Thu 15 Mar 2012 9:35 am

One of my coworkers keeps telling me that I should donate plasma at Biomat, so this morning I went down there (Taylorsville location) to see what it's all about. Well, I wasn't able to donate today because I didn't have 3 hours, which is what they said they needed for my first visit, but I thought I would share part of our conversation with you all.

After I asked all of my questions about donating plasma, the end of the conversation went like this:

Employee: Are you a police officer.
Me: I'm not.
Employee: Well, just so you know, our management gets REALLY upset when they see firearms.
Me: Good to know.
Employee: If you have a permit to conceal, just keep it concealed and it shouldn't be a problem.

Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that Biomat (at least the one in Taylorsville) is not OC-friendly. I think it's another company that believes guns are not safe unless they have a millimeter of fabric draped over them.

By the way, does anyone know of different company that takes plasma?

Donating or selling? If you're not wanting compensation, the red cross will take your plasma, or platelets willingly. http://www.redcrossblood.org/make-donation

Sorry, I should have said selling. Their website calls it donating, but they do pay for it.

Now both plasma centers in Taylorsville, and Salt lake both are not OC friendly @ all. :lightsaber: I have carried in both places and have been frowned on very much. LMAO I did have an encounter like yours at both places though that did get me to carry the rest of the time throught the donation process. Here is how it went.
1. Employee: " Are you a ploice officer"?
2 Me: "No I am not, but I am apart of the UCCG" ( Utah Concealed Carry Group ) I was left alone at that point. All I got back was an okay from managment and was pushed along for the rest of the process. What I thought was really funny was I was never asked what that meant. I had to laugh when I got out. It was quite funny. Afterward I never went back again. I usually don't go anywhere where I am not allowed to carry my weapon OC or IWB. Never know what may happen at anytime anywhere!! Just thought I would share a funny experiance. :lol3:

My thoughts here are along the line of---- If you don't like my firearm you don't get my blood. But they don't like those on diabetes mess to provide anyway
