plastic pistols 9mm Sig 2022 or XD

Postby wolverine_173 on Fri 23 Mar 2012 7:14 pm

I am looking at another full size polymer pistol in 9mm and cant decide between the sig 2022 or the xd. My main focus is on the quality of the firearm, I want it to last, lots and lots of rounds ( for the zombies of course ). I know both are reliable and cost about the same, and are probably on par as far as accuracy goes (which mainly depends on the persons). Thoughts?

glock17 (gen4) i have a nice one i will sell you ... been taken well care of!
Using the lessons I've gleaned from Zombie movies, I would recommend you have at least one round of ammunition per person currently living within a 30 mile radius of your location...

Already have a gen 3 glock 17. Just interested in these two pistols and maybe a CZ P 07 duty which cost the same as well.

Out of those two pistols, I would say the Sig has the upper hand by a good margin. They are excellent guns.

I wish I had known you last year. I had a Sig SP2022, but I sold it last year. It was a good gun; I just wanted another Glock.

I have shot both the XD's and Sigs. The Sig is built much better and for me, much more comfortable. I would always buy a Sig over an XD. Their guns are amazing (except for the Mosquito).

I had a P229 and also P250 for a while. They were great. I have also shot other models.

I guess i could always go for a glock 19. Dustin, Do you think glock beats the other two guns?

Plus the Sig looks better, IMO.

For me, it does, but we all have different preferences.

The thing that I didn't like about the Sig was the DA/SA trigger; I don't like a trigger that doesn't feel the same on every shot.

As for the XD, I think they're great, but it's VERY similar to the Glock and there is nothing about the XD that makes me think it's any better. It does have the extra grip safety, but I believe that's completely unnecessary and one more part that can fail.

For me, the Glock is the best handgun out there, but again, we all like different things. I love Glock's reliability, durability, simple take down/maintenance, etc.

Just be sure to try all the guns that you're considering to see which one is best for you.

Well gee. Now that Glock is in the mix, I would get a Glock 19 over the 2022. Not that I dislike Sig, but the Glock is a fantastic polymer pistol. I switch off between the 19, 17 and 34. All 9mm. They are awesome guns.

What you need to do is go to a range, rent them and shoot them. All of them are going to last at least 40,0000 rds with basic maintence. The big question is, which do you like the feel of best???

I'd throw M&P into the mix as well. They can feel great in your hand. And for some unknown reason, I can shoot much better with a mp then a glock. And the xd, for all the bad rap it gets for a high bore axis etc... I've never see one malfunction. It has a very, very low felt recoil in my opion. They have maneged to be uglier then a gock... But I have been thinking. The crazy fast speed shooters use single action revolvers, which have a very high bore axis. So, I doubt th xds will be an issue.

Another nice thing about the Glock is the Glock 17 mags you have will work in the 19. Saves you money there. If you get a different brand you will probably spend money getting more mags.

I love my XDM
People say I should not carry because it's not the Wild West. I say I carry because its much worse. Only 3 people died at the at the O.K. Corral and its a part of our nations history. If 3 people died in a 30 sec shootout today It might not make the news.

I have played with a few Sig's and like the trigger pull but the feel of the XD/XDm was so much better than the Sig and the Glock that I sold a Glock to get a XD and now I have 3 of them ( 2 XD's and a XDm ) very accurate and just great guns. I added a PRP trigger kit to all three and man are they sweet to shoot.

But as others have said try all 3 see how they feel to you.
