Handcuffs and handcuff keys?

Postby Shurikenv on Thu 02 Aug 2012 11:50 am

So I figured this would be a good place to post this since there not firearms but I was wondering is Carrying a handcuff key illegal in Utah? I just got a pair of handcuffs for some security stuff i do from time to time and stuck the key on my main key ring and then started to think about if its ok to leave it on there at all times. my first thing that comes in mind is that if i did get arrested and handcuffed first thing i would do would let them know about my handcuff key so they would not expect me of trying to escape.

No laws against that. Carry (the key) on!
Let not my last thought be “ If only I had my gun ”;
and Lord if today is truly the day that You call me home,
let me die in a pile of empty brass.

The only thing I can say here is, nothing illegal with handcuffs in Utah however, if you ever use then as a weapon you could face charges if it is not a self defense situation. I had someone arrested for assaulting me (attempting to) with a pair of handcuffs years ago, almost took my face apart - good thing I was in shape back then cause it would have been nasty.

If you are like me the primary shape you and I are in is "ROUND"... and I promise you that ROUND IS A SHAPE.... just not one the one aspires to achieve!
